Digital Sports Group today announced that The PFA Facebook fan page of Rickie Lambert has broken the 20% daily growth barrier making it the fastest growing Rickie Lambert page on Facebook. The Facebook page has become a thriving hub for the Southampton forward since it's launch and now boasts a vibrant and rapidly growing community of fans. The Facebook page along with Rickie Lambert player profile on football.co.uk provide the only online location of the official PFA biography, lifetime stats, news and high resolution gallery.
Lambert arrived at St Mary?s in August 2009 as the first major signing following the takeover of the Club led by Nicola Cortese, signing for a fee of ?1million from Bristol Rovers after scoring 59 goals across three seasons with The Gas.
The Liverpool-born striker started his career at Blackpool and had spells at Macclesfield Town and Stockport County before making his mark at Rochdale, where he scored 28 times in 64 appearances before moving to Bristol in August 2006.
His first season at St Mary's could not have gone much better as he notched 37 goals in all competitions during the 2009/10 campaign, including the one that he got for previous side Bristol Rovers on their opening day. The feat saw him sweep the end of season awards in a year which marked many highs including a goal at Wembley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, a hat-trick at MK Dons and a collection of stunning dead ball strikes from various distances. He scored on his debut too, just a day after his arrival at the Club, in a 2-0 first round win over Northampton Town in the League Cup.
Named among the substitutes for Saints' first game back in the Premier League, it took Lambert just four minutes to make his mark ? emerging from the bench ten minutes into the second half and netting shortly afterwards to rack up his first top-flight goal by levelling matters against champions Manchester City.
He made a total of 38 appearances across the course of the 2012/13 campaign, with his 15 goals the most scored by an Englishman in the top flight that season. He notched his 100th for Southampton in February 2013, and signed a new contract a month later to extend his affiliation with the club until the summer of 2016.
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say ?Rickie Lambert really has no shortage of fans after his performances for Southampton this season and we can see that by the success of his PFA Facebook page.?
?All of us here at Digital Sports Group are proud we've had the opportunity to work with The PFA to give the fans a fantastic and unique fan resource for Rickie Lambert.?
DSG became the official digital partner of the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) earlier this year and have since launched a number of Player Profile fan pages on social media site Facebook as well as providing official player pages on their football news site football.co.uk.
