You can look at this as a matter of satiation and propulsion. After all, Small Reactions have completed work on their debut LP, Similar Phantoms, which we?ve eagerly been anticipating since February. But the band is still in the process of shopping it around to labels, which unfortunately means we might not be hearing the record anytime soon. Not wanting to leave their fans in a lurch or lose all sense of forward momentum, the group recently got together with Derek King of Rock and Egg Productions to put together a video for their infectious standalone single ?Michael J. Foxworthy.? And, man, are we ever stoked to be able to bring you the premiere this morning.
The video was shot at the Cottage, which doubles as the group?s home and practice space. It?s also where they recorded the new album with producer Luciano Giarrano. For the most part, it?s a classic performance piece with lots of quick cuts of the band rocking out. But the production?s aged low budget look and off-the-cuff feel provide it with an interesting twist. According to drummer Sean Zearfoss, the video ?is designed to look like something from an old CCTV type of thing, a pirated public access channel or something crazy like that.? It?s a lot of fun, and a nice appetizer to chew on while we wait for Similar Phantoms to finally drop. Watch it below.
Small Reactions will perform on August 24 at Jortsfest along with Gold-Bears, Duende, Champagne Room and many others. Doors open at 4:30pm. Admission is FREE.
